What this keyboard tester can tell you
Press keys on your physical keyboard and the tester shows which presses your browser can see. You can download a PDF or CSV of the results at any point.
Keyboard layouts you can test
Choose Change keyboard above and select the option that looks most like yours. You can test:
- British and American keyboards — Standard UK and US key arrangements.
- French and German keyboards — Traditional French AZERTY and German QWERTZ layouts, with different letters and symbols.
- Latin American Spanish and Brazilian keyboards — Spanish QWERTY with Ñ, and Brazilian Portuguese ABNT2.
- Italian, Turkish and Spanish (Spain) keyboards — Italian QWERTY, Turkish Q and Spanish (Spain) layouts with their local printed symbols.
- Japanese and Korean keyboards — Japanese JIS physical keys and Korean two-set Hangul legends. Input methods and operating-system shortcuts have browser limitations.
- Australia, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Vietnam — Common QWERTY keyboards using the same basic key positions as the US option.
This checks whether your browser sees each key press. It does not check whether your computer types the right letters or accents in another language.
04 / QUESTIONS
Questions about the test
Do I need to test every key?
No. Check only the keys you want to test, or keep going through the whole keyboard.
Why doesn't a key show up?
Some keys and shortcuts are handled by your keyboard, browser or operating system before this page can see them. That does not automatically mean the key is broken. See why some keys can't be detected.
Can this tell me if my keyboard is definitely broken?
No. The tester shows what reached the browser; it cannot give a conclusive hardware diagnosis. If a key is not observed, see the keyboard key troubleshooting guide for the next checks.
Can I test a keyboard from another country?
Yes. Select Change keyboard and choose the closest match from the layouts listed above. The on-screen keys will change to show that arrangement. This tests physical key presses, not language input, and some variants may differ. Read about keyboard layouts around the world.
Can I test several keys at once?
Yes. If several key presses reach the browser together, the tester shows them as active together. This tells you about that combination in this test; it does not certify the keyboard's overall rollover capability.
Can I save the results?
Yes. You can download a PDF or CSV report at any point, including after a partial test. The PDF is the default format.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
Your detailed keyboard results and report contents stay in your browser. If optional usage analytics are enabled, they do not include which keys you press, key combinations, raw timing or report contents. Read Privacy & Terms.
